"Contracting for Transportation & Logistics Services"
(rev. 2001)
by George Carl Pezold
Deregulation of the transportation industry, together with a strong trend to "outsource" traditional in-house logistics functions, has resulted in the increased use of legal contracts among all participants in the supply chain - shippers, carriers, forwarders, brokers, warehousemen, 3PL's, and other service providers.
This text was written for a series of popular seminars sponsored by the Transportation and Logistics Council, and reflects the author's more than 35 years of experience as a practicing attorney in the field of transportation law, including the drafting and negotiating of transportation and logistics contracts, as well as his extensive litigation background.
The text gathers, in one place, the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the transportation and logistics functions. It provides analysis of important considerations that parties should consider when negotiating and drafting contracts; as well as outlines for the form and content of those contracts, and important reference materials.
